What are manifold insulators and what do they do? Manifold insulators are a thermal insulating spacer that mounts between your upper and lower intake manifold. Made from a heat blocking composite, our manifold insulators will increase power from your engine by keeping the intake cooler, and increase low end torque by increasing runner length.
But how do manifold insulators keep the intake manifold cooler? Given our manifold insulators are made from a composite material with a thermal conductivity of 0.29 W/m*K as opposed to aluminium, which has a thermal conductivity of 150 W/m*K; The difference works out to be that aluminum conducts heat 500 times higher then our composite material! Also, with gaskets often made out of steel (20 W/m*K thermal conductivity), placed between the upper and lower manifolds, replacing a .5mm gasket with a 10mm manifold insulator will conduct an amazing 1087 times less heat (yes, that's over 100,000% reduction!). What this basically means is that it becomes very difficult for the engine to heat up the manifold, which ultimately means more power for extended periods (i.e. considerably fewer heat soak issues)! Our composite material also exhibits high stiffness and compressive strength, can withstand temperatures up to nearly 150°C, and has a thermal expansion coefficient very similar to aluminum to increase sealing capabilities. In addition, the spacer can also withstand boosted conditions with ease. So what's included in the auction? Included in the auction is a 12mm thick manifold insulator, longer manifold bolts and gasket sealer. What about Installation? Installation is straight forward, requiring only the removal of your upper manifold to install the manifold insulator as shown below. Wed, 20 Nov 2013Jaguar F-Type Coupe and F-Type R Coupe revealed We finally get the reveal of the Jaguar F-Type Coupe in Los Angeles, but we also get the debut of the F-Type we thought we might have to wait longer for – the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe. Whilst the F-Type Coupe and S Coupe get the same familiar V6 Supercharged engines as the F-Type Roadster, the new F-Type R gets Jaguar’s ‘R’ V8 S/C with 542bhp, a 0-60 mph of 4.0 seconds and a limited top speed of 186 mph. That means the F-Type Coupe makes the jump from the two V6 versions straight to the V8 R, missing out the regular V8 S/C found in the Roadster, but at £85,000 the F-Type R Coupe is just £5k more than the V8 S Roadster and looks a hugely promising offering.
